A useful price history keeps the exact product: the manufacturer part number, the configuration, the condition, which shop it was, and the moment it was seen. No public index carries any of those fields, so no index can stand in for it, however much it looks like a price line on a chart.

The record is append-only by design, which means it begins the day a shop's feed is approved, and no earlier history can be bought, borrowed or filled in afterwards. The public record contains two related but non-equivalent manufacturing indexes. It does not contain retail motherboard offers. No current source was cleared for durable motherboard price retention as of the 2026-07-25 review. Source registry, reviewed 2026-07-25.

Printed-circuit-assembly manufacturing

The assembly series contains 114 monthly observations from 2017-01 through 2026-06 with no missing month. It began at 87.000, reached its retained low of 70.813 in June 2025, and reached its retained high of 187.709 in June 2026. The latest value was 50.4% above its trailing 12-month mean of 124.811, 165.1% above June 2025, and 115.8% above January 2017. March through June 2026 are provisional. The rise was not a smooth monthly line. The series moved from 70.813 in June 2025 to 91.401 in August, 99.132 in January 2026, 141.060 in February, 150.658 in March, and 187.691 in April before ending at 187.709 in June. Bare printed-circuit-board manufacturing

The bare-board series also contains 114 monthly observations from 2017-01 through 2026-06 with no missing month. It began at its retained low of 101.100 in January 2017 and ended at its retained high of 156.994 in June 2026. The latest value was 8.6% above its trailing 12-month mean of 144.626, 17.3% above June 2025, and 55.3% above January 2017. March through June 2026 are provisional. Why the two lines stay separate

An assembled printed circuit and a bare printed circuit board are different production layers. A retail motherboard adds chipset, sockets, power delivery, connectors, firmware, packaging, distribution, merchant stock, and margin. Averaging the indexes would hide their disagreement without creating a retail motherboard price. BLS series definitions and source registry, reviewed 2026-07-25.

A retail history also has to separate region and hardware revision along with manufacturer part number, chipset, form factor, condition, merchant, and observation time. Until a permitted price record reaches at least 14 days, 10 usable price readings, and 60% coverage, its status remains not enough data to judge. Neither manufacturing line carries timing advice. The 2026-07-26 backtest found that 60.4% of testable three-month wait signals were contradicted, above the declared limit.
