About this site
What we publish, what we will not publish, and who is answerable for it.
We publish manufacturer specifications, fit and power calculations, lawful monthly US Bureau of Labor Statistics category indexes, and current exact-model Newegg offers supplied through Rakuten Advertising. Every published figure includes the source and date needed to check it.
We do not forecast prices, fill missing dates, or turn a broad industry index into a price history for a specific product. We do not force an uncertain retailer listing onto a product just to increase coverage. When an offer is stale, cannot be matched safely, or is not cleared for the intended use, we exclude it and say why. The full rules are in the methodology, and the sources we use, limit, or reject are recorded in the source registry.
We record the price we see for each part once a day, and that record starts from the day we began keeping it rather than from the day the part went on sale. It grows by one reading a day and it is never backdated. We do not fill in days we missed, and we do not buy or scrape somebody else's retailer history and relabel it as ours. Until a part has enough readings to mean something, there is not enough data to judge, so we tell you how many we have instead of drawing a chart. A short honest record is worth more to you than a long invented one.
ComponentPrices is independent from the retailers and manufacturers it covers. Use the contact form for questions and correction reports. A commercial relationship does not change how missing or uncertain data is handled.
