How to compare DDR5 RAM value
Compare DDR5 kits with the capacity, module count and profile your board needs. Price per GB measures capacity value; it does not measure application performance, stability or the benefit of a faster kit.
Compare the same kit shape
Keep capacity and module count fixed before comparing prices. The listing title or manufacturer row identifies whether the total comes from one module or a multi-module kit. Registered server memory belongs in a separate comparison from unbuffered desktop memory.
Read speed and latency together
For a simple timing calculation, CAS latency in nanoseconds is 2,000 × CL ÷ transfer rate in MT/s. A 6,000 MT/s CL30 example is 10 ns. This arithmetic describes one timing interval, not the performance of an application or the full memory-access path.
Use the board's supported settings
Check the exact board's memory support list and the kit's stated XMP or EXPO profile. A published profile is a specification, not a guarantee that every CPU and board combination will run it.
Dated manufacturer and application information
Kingston. Check the module type as well as its generation. Registered DIMMs and unbuffered ECC DIMMs are distinct module types and are not interchangeable.
Kingston. DDR4 and DDR5 cannot replace one another in the same memory slot. The motherboard determines which generation you need.
