How much RAM do I need?
Start with your applications' memory requirements and the capacity your computer supports. A minimum requirement lets an application run; it is not a promise that every project will fit comfortably.
Match the capacity to the work
Blender lists 8 GB as its minimum and 32 GB as its recommendation. Adobe recommends 16 GB for HD media in Premiere and 32 GB or more for 4K and higher. Use the requirement for your application and project type, then account for the other programs you keep open.
Check your upgrade path
Before buying, check the exact motherboard or laptop manual for the supported generation, module type and maximum capacity. Compare the capacity of the whole kit, not just one module. Buying DDR5 does not upgrade a DDR4 slot.
Compare the cost of the next capacity
The capacity pages show the cheapest listing, median unit price and price range for each size. Compare those figures before paying for capacity you have not identified a use for.
Dated manufacturer and application information
Kingston. Check the module type as well as its generation. Registered DIMMs and unbuffered ECC DIMMs are distinct module types and are not interchangeable.
Kingston. DDR4 and DDR5 cannot replace one another in the same memory slot. The motherboard determines which generation you need.
