The comparison in detail

Prefer the better-value PCIe 4.0 drive for normal desktop use. Choose PCIe 5.0 when measured work repeatedly transfers large sequential data and the platform can feed a Gen5 x4 slot without unwanted lane sharing.

The interface doubles raw link rate, not every part of the SSD. Controller, NAND, cache, endurance, cooling, request size, and the time an application spends outside storage remain separate decisions.
