AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D or AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D
For a PC that already has an AM4 board and DDR4 memory, the 5700X3D drops in without a new board: buy it when it costs less than a 7500X3D with a new AM5 board and DDR5 kit. For a new build, choose the 7500X3D: the AM5 board and DDR5 it needs are the platform AMD's newer processors use.
The decision
Which one to buy
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D
Choose the 5700X3D if you already own an AM4 board and DDR4 and it costs less than a new AM5 processor, board and memory together: the processor is then the whole upgrade, once the board's BIOS supports it.
AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D
Choose the 7500X3D for a new build: AM5 takes AMD's newer processors, so the board and memory are not a dead end.
Cheapest new listing at Newegg: Ryzen 7 5700X3D, $607.98; Ryzen 5 7500X3D, $287.99, $319.99 less. Prices checked 31 October 2026, before tax and shipping.
Blender's CPU rendering benchmark: Ryzen 7 5700X3D 187 (66 submissions); Ryzen 5 7500X3D 193 (6 submissions). Higher renders faster; it measures rendering, not games. Scores from Blender Open Data (CC0).

The comparison in detail
AMD lists neither with a cooler in the box. An older AM4 board may need a BIOS update before it starts with a 5700X3D: check the board's processor support list.
The page above prices both processors today. Each processor's own page adds the cheapest board and memory it needs, which is where a new build's cost differs most.
